Jack-O-Lantern Jog raises money for pediatric brain cancer, Team Jack Foundation

More than 200 people attended the fourth-annual Jack-O-Lantern Jog on Wednesday, Oct. 14. This 5K race aimed to raise funds for the Team Jack Foundation, which funds research and promotes awareness for pediatric brain cancer. The foundation was named after Jack Hoffman, a Husker football fan who has this disease. The original Team Jack’s members were his family and friends but now membership has expanded because of support from the state and the nation.

In the span of just six hours Thursday, audiences will hear the story of a South Sudanese refugee who carried her four children across the Nile River and into the jungles of Africa and the unique perspective of a millennial whose voice on Twitter has garnered more than 65,000 followers. They’ll learn about the connection between blood sugar and mental health, the lack of musical diversity in traditional concert programming, the legal battles behind drone technology and more.
